Sun Bonnets for ladies and young women
These beautifully sewn women’s and children’s Western Pioneer Prairie Style Sun bonnets are great for gardening and hiking. You can easily stuff them into your pocket and when ready to use again. However, you can still pull the bonnet out to wear later as it easily retaining it’s shape. Just as well, these sun bonnets can be used to protect your complexion from the wind and sun. Why would you want to use a chemically based sun screen when you can protect your face and neck? Keep your lovely complexion intact like the women in the 1880’s did. Made from cotton and/or cotton polyester blends. One of my all time favorite bonnets was one made of an old fashioned rose print, and tiny clusters of buds. Sadly, that material is no longer available, but it was the loveliest bonnet material I have ever worked with.

How the Bonnets are Made
You will find that the sun bonnets are all handmade in the USA here in Wyoming. The sun bonnets have an djustable tie inside at the neck-base. Bonnets are machine washable and sturdy but we recommend a gentle cycle, cold water. After washing, lightly press with a warm iron if needed. Bonnets have a 5 1/2 inch deep brim, and a neck ruffle of 5 inches. The gathered cap is deeper and roomier by approximately 2 inches.
To lengthen the back neck covering, loosen the ties inside the casing. To shorten, tighten the ties. You will find he quality of the sewing are higher than imported products. The size is a medium/large which fits most women. If, however, you find that this is still too small, please contact us. Because we offer custom made bonnets, this expands your choice ranges. You can also return your bonnet with your receipt for an exchange. However, on your exchange, there are no guarantees on color or pattern.
Making Your Bonnet Fit
The reason most often cited for people to have trouble with their bonnet fitting properly is concerning the ties. However, all of these bonnets are a large, with the cap area being cut a bit larger to accommodate bundled up hair or thicker hair. If you are trying on the bonnet and it feels too small, please check the interior ties first. We tie the interior ties tightly before shipping. In addition, If you find your bonnet too small, please check and loosen the interior ties first, and make the bonnet a fit perfect for your head size.
